Syncdocs 6.971 Google Drive Sync and Backup Updated

We are happy to announce the latest version of Syncdocs, version 6.971

This is a minor update. It contains Google’s new Authentication API which Google will soon roll-out. This update will upload and download small files significantly faster for users that have not already updated to version 6.966.

Also included is the latest Google Drive libraries to stay compatible and secure with Google’s updates to Drive, security and Photos.

How to Update

The upgrade is free and will happen automatically. The old Syncdocs version should ask if you want to update automatically in the next few days.

To update now, right click on the Syncdocs taskbar icon, go to Preferences -> Advanced -> “Check for Updates”.

You can also download the new version and install it over the old one.

USB Portable Google Drive Syncing

The 64 bit and portable (USB memory stick) versions that sync to and run from USB thumb drives are also updated to version 6.971 and can also be downloaded from http://www.syncdocs.com/download-syncdocs

The portable versions now contain a link to the update files, as portable versions do not auto-update as they could be running from a USB memory stick.

.NET 4.5 update might be required

This release will require .NET 4.5 due to Google TLS (SSL) security requirements. These crypto libraries are not in .NET 3.5 or .NET 4.

.NET 4.5 was released five years ago in August 2012, so your computer should have it installed. If it is not installed, Syncdocs will prompt for its installation, and take you to the .NET 4.5 installation page.

Legacy Syncdocs version for Windows XP

Those still running Windows 2000, XP SP2 or lower, or Server 2003 can download the .NET update.

Or you can use the legacy XP version of Syncdocs that does not need .NET 4.5, which you can download from here:
