Hi there,
I have a number of devices and pc's and was doing some tidying up, deleting old files etc. I deleted a bunch of files in the root of Google Drive (in the browser) but I've just noticed some of them have re-appeared. Is it possible that the files were uploaded again from my laptop? Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi,
The most probable cause is that Google allows duplicate file names in the same folder. What often happens is that you delete one, and then another file with the same name, that was lurking further down the list on Google Drive, appears.

Hiya, its also happening with my folder structure. I moved a couple of folders into the root of Google Drive (in the browser) and the same folders were uploaded later that evening from my laptop into their old locations. It's like it doesn't know which file or folder set is the default so if I move something in the browser it puts it back (via a sync from my other PC). Any thoughts on a workaround for this?

I also just found this post, which seems to be the same issue as I am having. I'll have a play with the sync timing on my PCs and see what happens.

Sometimes this happens because Google Drive allows duplicate file names. If you delete one file, Syncdocs will delete the file. However if there is another older file with that same name, it will then sync the older one.
Windows, Linux and OSX do not allow files with the same name. The easiest way to check if this is happening is to search for the filename in Google Drive in a browser window. If there is more than one copy, then there are duplicate file names online.

This issue wasn't resolved. None of these suggestions work.
Seems to be a flaw in the program. Something to do with the Deletion or Move to Backup directory.
If you are going to use this with multiple computers it will not fully sync. One computer needs to be set a download only computer.
I have wiped my computers a few times. Wiped Google drive. Used ONLY 1 file on the drive and I can reproduce this bug over and over again.
Delete 1 file from one computer. Manual sync or Auto either one. Deletes it from Google. 2nd Computer syncs and ATTEMPTS to deleted the file. Then Uploads it back to Google. Then 1st Computer downloads it again.
I have tried using older version of the program. I have tried removing encryption.
Nothing corrects the issue.
I don't have "Allow duplicate filenames on Google" checked. Or anything else checks on the Files Page.

Thanks for the step-by-step guide. Unfortunately, I get the file deleted on both computers. What version of Windows are you running? Are you running in virtual machine?
I would check if the folder or file is shared to another user.
Another possibility is that the problem is caused by Syncdocs not having permissions to see changed made to files made by the Administrative user. What happens is that programs like Windows Explorer run as Administrator, and they make changes to files and folders that Syncdocs does not have permissions to see. You can fix this by right clicking on Syncdocs and then selecting "Run as Administrator" or by using the shortcut in the Syncdocs Start menu group.

I am using Windows 8.1 with UAC turned off. Full admin rights on both computers. I use the Run as Admin link for Syncdocs. I'll try Run as Administrator and report back.
Is there some kind of advance logging I can use to see why the file isn't deleted off of the computer.

Glad that the "Run as Administrator" fixed things.
If the Start Menu link does not have permissions (defined in the system policy) it may not work. You can bypass it with the following command line or save it as a batch file:
runas.exe /savecred /user:administrator "path where syncdocs is installed\syncdocs.exe"
This will ask you for permissions once, and then save them. If you change your windows password, you'll need to re-give it permissions.
