There was a Google Server error while listing your Google Documents

I have been receiving errors for the last two weeks and every other day attending to trying to fix them.... I finally was able to upload new files from my server to the google drive after installed the most recent sync docs installer, but after it finished that and it them begins to " Query Google documents", I keep getting the error that "There was a Google Server error while listing your Google Documents..."

??? the log file shows things like:

I got this error this AM on a RE-install of syncdocs.

Thanks for the error report. This normally is triggered when Google tells Syncdocs about a file change, and when we check it, to act on the change, the change is not there, hence the "inconsistent values in file list". This is probably caused by the Google back end servers syncing between themselves.

In any case, Syncdocs should recover from it. Is it a permanent issue with your sync?

Well, it was going through the cycle as aforementioned for two weeks; I forgot about it for 4 days, or rather I attended to other matters. Today I looked at the status and it kicked off a .5 GB sync; but now it seems to be actually working..... wha?

@condev: The error is actually on Google's backend servers. That is why the error went away. They sync between themselves, and may do load or data balancing. We suspect this causes the file system errors in the file list that Syncdocs picks up, and prevents the bad data from syncing.

If you can, try the new beta version of Syncdocs, it has better file system inconsistency checking (more fine grained).

I just found out that the issue still exists..... please advise. However, will download the new beta version however, I did not see it listed in the downloads page. Do you have a direct link?

So, I pretty much did the same thing in regards to reinstalling/clearing cache etc and it is syncing; great; this was the case last time; and before I logged off the server under the dom admin account i use, I noticed that Sync Docs is running under the same profile - not the Local Service or of the like...

Tell me this please, since that is the case, ever time I log off that means Sync Docs is going to stop running, correct? and Therefore, nothing will sync until I log in again???

Yes, that is correct: if Syncdocs is running from your user account and not as a service, then it will stop running when you log out, just like all other user account apps.

Okay, so to work around this I created a task to run every hour since a user will not be logged into this machine everyday, etc, but files will need to be sync every hour at least (files are added/removed/updated continuously since it is a shared network folder). I created a managed account for the task to run under, checked to run with highest privileges and applied the log on as batch job right. The action is simply to run the syndocs.exe since I did not find any flags or an executable responsible for calling the sync function...

Can anyone from Syncdocs confirm this or recommend a different method to ensure syncing occurs routinely without the need of a user being logged on?

To run Syncdocs only once from a batch file, use the -OnlyRunSyncOnce command line parameter. Any errors are returned via the operating system errorlevel.

You can find more information on the Syncdocs command line parameters here.

The free Microsoft svrany utilities can be used to run it as a service, but you won't see any desktop notifications, you'll need to look at the log files.

There are also other paid utilities like AlwaysUp that do the same thing and run Syncdocs as a a service.

Hi Phil, thanks for the reply; I did what you suggested and the tasks is running successfully; however it is not syncing and the reason is this:

THERE ARE NO options to choose where I want to install Syncdocs; and after I uninstall Syncdocs under the original account that it was installed under, I cannot install it under any other account; the point being, I DO NOT want to install to the location that it installs to I.E. under the current user's profile! How CAN I uninstall this program in FULL and then how can I choose a install location??

We install to the Windows default location to streamline the install.

To install to another location, you can use the TARGETDIR windows parameter, something like this command line:

msiexec /i Syncdocs.msi TARGETDIR="%ProgramFiles%\Syncdocs" ALLUSERS=1

This will let both Admin and Normal Users access the installation.

Depending on what you want to do, you can also use the
msiexec /a Syncdocs.msi
to make an admin install with more setup options.
