If I edit a file locally which has been shared with me, a new (shared) copy is uploaded to GoogleDocs. While this might be a good a good way of dealing with shared documents among few people, i's not a good way when the file is shared among several people and/or if you want to make use of the version handling that GoogleDocs provide.
Even worse, it sort of ruins the whole idea of collaborate work for the orginial creator of the file. If I share a file through GoogleDocs to someone who can edit it, I wouldn't want the receivers to spread their changes through their own local copies. That brings us back to the main problem of "editing through e-mail" with a lot of different versions and copies floating around.
I would like to see an option that prevents me from uploading files that have been shared to me. I might want to download them - preferably as read-only - to have off-line access, but any editing or revision handling should be done through GoogleDocs.
