Hello,
Syncdocs is great, I love it.
In Windows Explorer, how can I tell if a .doc file is actually a Google Docs file or a MS Office file?

Marco

Hi Marco,
The local file is converted to a .doc, which is a always a MS Office file.
If you chose to convert on upload, then the .doc file corresponds to a Google Doc online.
So typically, if you convert you will have:
Local: MS .doc, Google: Google Doc
If you choose not to convert
Local: MS .doc Google: MS .doc (which you can view, but not edit on Google)
Hi Andrew,
Thank you. It would be helpful if it was possible to tell by the extension whether a file originally is a MS or Google file. As far as I understand you that's not possible (in the case of not converting).

Marco
Hi Marco,
There are ways of telling if the file was a Google or MS file originally by looking at the metadata, but not the extension.
Why are you interested in this? Perhaps there is another way to satisfy your needs?
Hi Andrew,
It just feels more natural if I know which program opens when I double click on a file. I would like Google Docs files to open in Google Docs and MS files in MS.
Regards,
Marco
Hi Marco,
We can do this. I've moved this thread to "Feature Requests".
If enough people also ask for it, we'll add it as a feature in future.
