Hey Guys,
I just bought syncdocs yesterday after testing it and thinking I worked out all the kinks. I'm having a strange issue and was hoping there was a fix. So I created a symbolic link to a folder with Excel documents named Planning using the Right click>Upload to Google Drive function.
It then uploaded all my files to a Planning folder on Google Drive. Great!
I wanted to be able to edit those files on Google Drive directly without downloading them and opening them in Microsoft Office. So I removed the symbolic link and made sure that the documents also got deleted from Google drive. Then, I went into the settings and checked the box to Convert files to Google Docs on upload, if possible.
I then right clicked the same planning folder and uploaded it again. This time the files on my symbolic link remained .xlsx but on the Google drive they were converted into the Google Sheets format. Which is exactly what I wanted.
I made a change the the file locally on my machine and the change then got uploaded to my Google Sheet document on GDrive. Where I ran into an issue was when I modified the document on the Google Drive side. When I added text to a cell Syncdocs recognized that the file changed. However, even though it said it downloaded the file my local file did not reflect these changes. Also, every time I initiated a sync it would always "download" that file since it saw it as a change but the local file never got updated.
So I then created a new Google Sheet Document on the Planning Drive on GDrive. Again, Syncdocs recognized a new file and "downloaded" it. However, the new Google Sheet file I created never got synced locally. Now both the updated spreadsheet and the new GSheet I created always "download" every time a sync is initiated.
So basically my issue is Syncdocs is not downloading Google Sheet documents to my local drive.
I'm not sure what's going on. I do not have this issue when using the default Google Drive client nor the Insync (3rd Party) client.
Lastly, assuming there is a fix to this is there a way to turn off document conversion when Google Documents get downloaded from Google Drive. In other words, can I download the gdsheets format and store that instead of it converting it to xlsx.
