Deleted local files redownloaded from GD upong syncing

The scenario of the problem:

Step 1) A folder exists on local PC with testfile1.txt and testfile2.txt
Step 2) The files are synced to GD via syncdocs
Step 3) The PC is disconnected from syncdocs while the user works offline
Step 4) User deletes testfile1.txt and testfile2.txt on local pc while working offline
Step 5) User connects to the internet again again and reconnects to syncdocs
Step 6) Syncdocs DOWNLOADS testfile1.txt and testfile2.txt from GD to the local PC (i.e. the same files that were previously deleted from local PC while user worked offline).

Why is syncdocs downloading locally deleted files again?

I have reviewed this forum for a solution unsuccessfully. All files are kept within the Google Docs folder. I have full sync and deletions set up in preferences and have the latest version 2.22 installed.

Sean - I have also observed this issue while working using manual sync.

Interim solution I have found is to make sure that I only delete local files while online and using standard live sync. Syncdocs then detects deletion and correctly deletes Google Docs version on sync.

Thank you for that report. It looks like a regression in one of the latest versions (2.10 or 2.22)

Once we know what's gone wrong, we'll release a fix, probably in the next two days.

Terrific! I'll look forward to the new release as Nick's interim solution would not have worked long-term for me. Thanks for the prompt fix!

I'm sure you're busy but may I ask if there are any plans to resolve the excess folders issue as discussed a couple months ago in this thread http://www.syncdocs.com/forums/topic.php?id=228&page=2

Specifically, I had a recommendation regarding the issue.

Version 2.23 is available here.

It fixes the re-download problem which is the topic of this thread.

In more detail the problem occurs when:
1. Syncdocs syncs first, but then loses network connectivity
2. Local deletions and/or renames and moves are made
3. When the network is re-connected, Syncdocs failed to mirror these changes back to Google.
4. Instead it re-downloaded the files.

@seanmarriot: Regarding the folder structure. We plan on putting all the Syncdocs folders (DirectUploads and Shared) into a Syncdocs subfolder on Google Docs. There were a wide variety of comments on the post, some wanting it, some not, so we will try to make it optional.

We also plan on the option of putting "Collections shared with me" into its own folder, so the local folder structure looks more like Google.

The problem is not resolved. I use Syncdocs between two computers (#1 and #2).
1) I upload a file in GD from #1. Turn off the #1.
2) The file is copied to #2 via SyncDocs. I read and remove it from the #2. SyncDocs delete it from GD. Turn off the #2.
3) Turn #1. The file is not deleted, and upload in the GD.
If you then run a sync to #2, then the file is restored.
(win 7, win 2008).

I checked with a scenario @seanmarriott on one computer. The problem is repeated.

Oh yes, I installed v2.23!

@Andrew: As Gore also noted above, the re-downloading problem still persists even with version 2.23. Syncdocs continues to fail to mirror the changes made locally back to Google upon reconnection to the network. Do you have any other ideas to resolve the issue?

Thanks for the update on the folder structure. A single Syndocs folder with subfolders is an ideal solution in my humble opinion.

I cant manage to repeat this latest error, or the original one anymore, which is frustrating.
Are these deleted files shared using Google?
For gore's latest error, are PC #1 and PC #2 on using the same Google account?

Maybe the problem is that I use to connect wi-fi with the local router.
First, my computer connects to the router quickly.
But the router is connected to the Internet takes some time.

I'm not entirely sure I understand the question but I believe the answer is no. The files on my local PC are only synced with GD and no files are shared with other GD users/accounts. I also only use a single Google account.

@Gore It's not a connection issue; my internet connection is solid.

@Andrew I would be willing to allow you to login remotely into my computer under my supervision if you think it may help you resolve the issue. However, I'm leaving the country (located in Sweden) March 1st for a month so would need to do right away. I can be reached via Skype under the same user name as my Syncdocs forum name.
