Hi,

I am a paid account user. I have used 64-bit portable syncdoc for years. Sometimes, I found that some files updated from one computer, say computer A, and have been synced to google drive that can't sync to another computer, say computer B. Computer B still keeps the old version file even the google drive already has an updated one. Sometimes, I have some new documents saved and synced from computer A. The files can't sync to computer B. These sync problems cannot be solved even I reset cache from the syncdoc preference. Please help to solve the problem. Thanks!

Hi,

The first thing to check is that the time on both computers is set correctly. Syncdocs tries to synchronize clocks at startup but does not always have permission to change the times.

If the clocks on both computer A and B are the same, check that Syncdocs on computer B has permissions to overwrite files. If you don't want to fiddle with user folder permissions, then the best solution is to run Syncdocs "As Administrator".

You can run it as Administrator to give it these permissions. To do this:
a. exit Syncdocs,
b. then right click on the Syncdocs icon and select "Run as Administrator". You can also click on the "Always run Syncdocs as Admin" item in the Syncdocs Start Menu group.

1. Time settings of both computers are correct.
2. Problem happened in same folder, some files synced but some files amended in other computer cannot synced sometimes.

Another thing to check, although more improbable: Google allows duplicate folder names. Check that computer A and B haven't made separate folders on Google Drive with the same name.

same folder, all files are synced but only one cannot sync. I need to download from google drive to replace the old version, then sync of that file resumed. this is the bug.

some ordinary files such as excel xls files.

I really don't know why. I do some changes to same file from computer at home, sometimes it can be synced successfully to computer at office but sometimes fail. For fail situation, you can see old version from the computer but latest version from the cloud. But it just fail to sync to updated one.

Something worth checking is that both computers are set the same when comes to converting xls Excel files.

These options are in the Files Tab of Syncdocs Preferences. Check that convert Office files to Google Docs on upload and the similar option for on download are the same on both PCs.

I had to replace my hard drive. As the old one went bad, Syncdocs stopped working (thankfully, just for a few days before replacement). I installed the new drive, gave its sync directory the exact name as before, and started syncing. It worked for part of one day. It synced about 2 of some 20 or so subdirectories. Since then, the status bar moves a bit into the green and gives me various messages, such as "querying Google server," Querying Google Documents (0%, or 1% or sometimes a bit more). Then the status bar goes away and it starts over. In the meantime, my new drive still has only about 2 of the 20 subdirectories. I have re-authenticated, I have re-started Syncdocs several times, all to no avail. We are talking about 200 GB or so of files -- with up to 2TB available on Google and up to 4 TB on my local drive.

What do I do next? Thanks

It could be that Google's server is rate limiting your account. Do you have a paid Google Drive account.

Please send us the Syncdocs log (to contact-syncdocs@syncdocs.com)

The log will show more details on the cause of the problem. You can get it by right clicking on the Syncdocs icon, selecting "Preferences", then "Advanced" and then "View Log".
(if you do not see an "Advanced" tab, click on "Advanced options..." button to see it)

Now the program seems to be working, albeit incredibly slowly -- it falls through reboots and has to start again. But what should take about 200 minutes (about 230 GB) is taking days. But it is making progress. I will send log if the progress stops. Thanks for your response.

Syncdocs worked for another few GB, now keeps reverting to "initializing" here is the log from my latest attempt

Tried closing and re-starting; still gets to "initializing" and stays there for hours. It has been over a week, and I still have only about 1/2 my files restored onto my new hard drive.

New report -- back to working again; just downloading very slowly, though I have "up to 1 GB" download service. Sigh....

It is worth checking your Google account. Some of them are "shaped" and limit transfer speeds after a certain quota.

Also check that your personal firewall/anti-virus app is not limiting Syncdocs. It needs permissions to talk to all of Google's servers in order to run at full speed.

If you can, please email us a more complete log, as it shows more details.

I turned off my computer's sleep function and finally got through the whole hard drive's worth of files, albeit extremely slowly.

Here is the more complete log. By the way, it is now saying "sync paused" and I should close the preferences window to resume. I have closed the preference window; I still get the same message. Sigh.

Thank you for the log file.

It appears that the problem is only caused with big .exe file downloads. This normally happens when an anti-virus app locks the file for scanning.

Can please you tell me what anti-virus app you are using so we can try to replicate the problem?
