i've read and reread but something very simple alludes me, so i seek your help.

i have gdrive (cloud) and it syncs to a local folder in C (let's call it gdrive local) w/o syncdocs.

i add syncdocs in order to sync a copy of gdrive local (OR gdrive cloud since they are the same, right? sync'd) on a removable drive, call it gdrive my passport.

i want gdrive my passport to be in sync with the other two folders, gdrive local and gdrive cloud, which are the same/ie sync'd.

the purpose of this is to have three copies of my photos, one on the pc locally (gdrive local) aother in the cloud (gdrive cloud), and the third on the removable storage, gdrive my passport.

what am i not getting? when syncdocs does it's thing i think it wants to create yet another copy of gdrive my passport onto gdrive cloud. i don't want that.

am i being obtuse? please help straighten out my confusion. thank you very much, tom

I'm guessing that your problem is the hierarchy of the folders that you are using. You should probably check the level c:\gdrive\passport on Google Drive is the same as the level on Syncdocs. You might want to select folders on Syncdocs or Google Drive that you want to sync or not sync.

hi phil, thanks for trying! i'm still confused. i want three folders in sync:

. gdrive cloud
. gdrive local
. folder on removable media (my passport)

i don't want syncdocs to duplicate the local media folder onto gdrive.

how do i end up with a/ just and b/ all in sync?

hi phil or anyone at syncdocs, i bought syncdocs in order to keep three folders in sync:

1. a google drive folder
2. a google local folder
3. a non google folder located on removable media

i can't figure out how to accomplish this. 1 & 2 are in sync care of google drive. but 3 is the issue. what do i sync it with since the other two are already in sync...the local drive or the cloud drive?

or, did i make the purchase assuming SD would do this and it cannot?

Syncdocs

I would suggest that you use Syncdocs to sync everything. It can sync your existing local Google Drive folder and your external drive at the same time. Running Syncdocs and the Google Drive client at the same time on the same files can lead to unpredictable results.

Here's how to do it:
- When you install Syncdocs and it asks which folder to sync, select your existing Google Drive folder. Syncdocs will see these files are already on Google and won't sync them again.
- Once Syncdocs is installed, then right click on the external drive folder and select "Upload to Google Drive"

when i right click on the external drive folder and select 'upload..." will SD create a new folder on gdrive or sync to the existing one?

Syncdocs will create a link to the existing folder on your network drive. It will then sync this to Google Drive, and it will appear in your Google Drive folder online. Locally it will look like a folder but will actually be a link to your network drive.
