After syncing a file I have been working on (I use manual sync to avoid merging files) and uploading the file to Google drive, Syncdocs deletes the file on my laptop (but not on my tablet, and the settings appear to be the same). However, if I sync again the file is then downloaded from Google drive on to my laptop. This is very annoying.

Hard to tell exactly what the cause of this is. Is the file only used by you on your tablet and laptop, or is it shared with another user?
You can also try resetting Syncdocs settings to Default in the Advanced tab in Preferences. Note that you will have to re-enable any custom settings after doing this.

I am the only person using both the laptop, the tablet, and the account. Syncdocs worked fine on my old laptop and works perfectly on the tablet. It is only on my new (used) laptop that this occurs. When I sync and watch under show status you can see it uploading the changed document and then deleting the document locally!?! I will try resetting.
The resetting seems to have worked. However, I do not know if the problem occurred all the time or intermittently. I will assume the former, and get back to you if it recurs.
Thanks. Steven

I have a similar problem. I had a adobe illustrator file saved into my syncdocs folder. I was saving my work frequently while working of the file. The next day, it was gone from the syncdoc folder. I found the file in my trashbin.
I noticed that when I work on a file and I save often, this kind of thing happens. If I save the file on my desktop, and then move it into my syncdoc folder, syndocs doesnt thrash it. However, this kind of defeats the purpose of syncdoc; I might as well upload it directly to google drive using a browser.
This needs to be fixed. I lost certain files because of this behavior; sometimes I manage to find them back, but I can't go around checking all my files to make sure syncdocs didn't decide it should be trashed.

Thanks for detailed bug description.
We are investigating a probable cause of the issue - Google seems to want to regard .ai files as .pdfs and tries to convert them for the new preview feature. We're looking for a fix.
So we can replicate it, what version of Illustrator are you using?
