Hello - I recently noticed that somehow all my files and photos have been deleted from my local G Drive. I use SyncDocs with Drive as cloud storage. My local is a WD MyBookLive NAS server. I only sync in one direction. SD version 6.963.32.709. My docs and photos are still in Drive, and still in my WD MyCloud, which I only access on occasion. Most of the folders are still there, but empty, and anything (folders or files) created in the last year or so is gone entirely.
This has happened in the past to a folder here and there, but never to ALL my files. WHAT is going on?? I don't have time to be re-downloading everything. Thanks.
All my files and some folders have disappeared from my local

Syncdocs won't delete files if they are not deleted on Google. Which direction are you syncing in, and do you allow deletions to be synced?
I would firstly check your local system to see if you have a virus or ransomware by running an anti-virus app. If your system is clean then check your NAS disk file system by running scandisk or checkdisk to ensure its integrity.

Thanks Phil.
I'm only syncing up to Drive. I allow deletions to be synced, but obviously I did not delete ALL my files.I ran virus and malware check and everything is clean. I ran Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for WD NAS server, and it passed.
This has happened before, but on a smaller scale. One folder in particular would be deleted, then I would restore, then a few weeks later I would notice it was deleted again. Restore, etc...
Not sure if this might related -- On occasion, my computer is suddenly unable to see the G Drive. The shortcut is missing from the desktop and no G Drive appears in the drive list. Syncdocs is also unable to find G Drive. This happened again recently and the only way I was able to restore access was by reinstalling Syncdocs. It was soon after that everything was missing.

I you re-installed, you might have inadvertently selected a different syncing folder - perhaps check the file location by clicking the "Open local folder" item in the Syncdocs menu. You can also check the main folder location in the "Folders" tab in the Preferences menu.

Hi Phil-
When I click on "open local folder" it goes to the C:\Documents folder, but when I check the "Folders" tab in Preferences it is set correctly to \\MYBOOKLIVE\Public\ (this is where it should be).Posted 6 years ago # -
If your main folder is a UNC path (\\Mybooklive\Public) then you should probably run Syncdocs as Administrator - it might be Syncdocs does not have permissions to see some of the file changes on the UNC path.
You can run it as Administrator to give it these permissions. To do this:
a. exit Syncdocs,
b. then right click on the Syncdocs icon and select "Run as Administrator". You can also click on the "Always run Syncdocs as Admin" item in the Syncdocs Start Menu group.Posted 6 years ago # -
I paid for a Syncdocs license, because I liked how it worked. I have hundreds of files synced only in one direction: from my local hard disk to my google drive. Several times I had the feeling that some files were missing in my local disk. About 2 weeks ago I finished a work wich I placed in 5 folders, each folder contained exactly 16 files wich I burned in a CD to give to my boss, it was revised, discused and projected in a meeting. Then I went to a one week vacation. On my return, there was missing one file in one of the folders. I revised the CD's I burned and there were all the files. Why Syncdocs deletes files randomly..? I feel sad that I cannot trust Syncdocs anymore, it's not a trustworthy software. And I recomended to use it to many of my friends in the office. Do you have any idea or everything is working ok for you at Syncdocs?

Hi Enrique,
Sorry to hear about your hassles. Syncdocs will not delete files unless they are definitely deleted by Google. In fact it double checks to see if the files or folders are actually deleted, to be sure that there is no glitch in the Google Server reporting. The normal case for files being deleted is files that have been shared with you and then un-shared are no longer available and can be deleted locally, as they are no longer present on Google.
If you send your log-file to contact-syncdocs@syncdocs.com I might be able to see the cause of the deleted files.
Please send me the Syncdocs log which will show more details on the cause of the issue. You can get it by right clicking on the Syncdocs icon, selecting "Preferences", then "Advanced" and then "View Log".
(if you do not see an "Advanced" tab, click on "Advanced options..." button to see it)Posted 6 years ago # -
I've got to chime in here. I've seen "I have hundreds of files synced only in one direction: from my local hard disk to my google drive" and " I feel sad that I cannot trust Syncdocs anymore, it's not a trustworthy software." This is just wrong.
This product is GREAT! I've got 412k+ files totallying over 323GB synced via Google Drive (including 9,500 folders). It works pretty much flawlessly.
And in the rare occasion that there is a speedbump (I couldn't sync for about a month) the crew here has worked hard to get the problems resolved. Oh, and by the way they were problems that stemmed from either Google itself changing something or my ISP having an issue. It was never a Syncdocs problem.
