Monthly Archives: August 2017
We are happy to announce the latest version of Syncdocs, version 6.966.
This update will upload and download small files significantly faster.
Also included is the latest Google Drive libraries to stay compatible and secure with Google’s updates to Drive, security and Photos.
.NET 4.5 update might be required
This release will require .NET 4.5 due to Google TLS (SSL) security requirements. These crypto libraries are not in .NET 3.5 or .NET 4.
.NET 4.5 was released five years ago in August 2012, so your computer should have it installed. If it is not installed, Syncdocs will prompt for its installation, and take you to the .NET 4.5 installation page.
Legacy Syncdocs version for Windows XP
Those still running Windows 2000, XP SP2 or lower, or Server 2003 can download the .NET update.
Or you can use the legacy XP version of Syncdocs that does not need .NET 4.5, which you can download from here:
How to Update
The upgrade is free and will happen automatically. The old Syncdocs version should ask if you want to update automatically in the next few days.
To update now, right click on the Syncdocs taskbar icon, go to Preferences -> Advanced -> “Check for Updates”.
You can also download the new version and install it over the old one.
USB Portable Google Drive Syncing
The 64 bit and portable (USB memory stick) versions that sync to and run from USB thumb drives are also updated to version 6.966 and can also be downloaded from http://www.syncdocs.com/download-syncdocs
The portable versions now contain a link to the update files, as portable versions do not auto-update as they could be running from a USB memory stick.
If you have updated from 32 bit Syncdocs to 64 bit Syncdocs, then you need to tell the 32 bit version not to run automatically at login. Here’s how to do it:
1. Run the 32 bit version (the one that runs at startup).
2. Click on the Syncdocs start menu icon, and select Preferences.
3. Un-check the item shown below.
4. Click OK.
5. Exit Syncdocs 32 via the Exit menu item.
6. Run Syncdocs64 in the Syncdocs Start menu group in Windows
7. Enable the option shown in the above menu, and click OK.
The 64 bit version of Syncdocs will now run at startup.
