I just had to completely uninstall and re-install SyncDocs. Got everything running just fine except encrypted files. The encrypted folder is a shared folder. SyncDocs recognizes that, but won't download any files because it (apparently) doesn't have the right password. The UI for encryption passwords is very confusing, sorry. It's asking for an old password and a new password. I just want to specify THE password -- I still know it. Please tell me how to just simply specify the password.
New Install wants a new encryption password?(2 posts) (2 voices)
This is probably because your old password is still on the system, and did not get un-installed properly.
Syncdocs uses the Windows Credential Manager to store a hash of your password.
Here's how to wipe your encryption password.
1. Quit Syncdocs and go to the Control Panel.
2. Click on "Credential Manager"
(on Windows 10 go to the Settings and search for "Credential Manager")
3. In the Windows Vault, Generic credentials section, you should see an entry starting with SyncdocsEnc
4. Click on this entry and then "remove from vault"
5. Re-run Syncdocs
You will then be able to setup your password.
