From a users perspective what is the difference between google docs and google storage for developers? In the future will we be syncing to the storage section rather than google docs?

MemberGoogle Storage is raw database access for storage with web applications. Technically, yes, a developer such a syncdocs could use google storage for a project like this, but they would have to build the web ui (Google Docs) from scratch, if a web ui was a requirement. Otherwise you would always have to use the client application to access your files.
