Help on Google Drive sync

   I create new file on my local Google Docs directory. In a few seconds I see the file on the Google Docs in the cloud. I then delete the file locally. After a few seconds, the file reappears on my local directory structure. I delete again and same thing. It looks like it sees the file missing and copys down from google docs. I looked at preferances and it does say to sync renames/deletes. I even delete file and then "Force Full Sync". Same then, file reappears on local file system.

   The only way to delete the file is from Google Docs cloud, not local file system. Is this bug, how can I Fix this?

   If you rename a file locally do the changes sync?

   What sort of privilege level is your account?

   If I rename it, the new file is uploaded but the old file is then downloaded. I have full admin rights on my PC and files.

   Hi Kyle,

   A few questions to help us get to the bottom of this:

   1. If you stop and re-start Syncdocs do you still see the problem?
   2. Is Syncdocs running with the same privileges as the user making the changes?
   3. Is this folder also monitored by Dropbox?

   1) Yes, I restarted SyncDocs and same issue.
   2) Yes, it runs as same privleges as user making changes.
   3) No, dropbox is looking at another directory.

   I think I found issue. I changed SyncDocs to follow links. That works find, no memory or CPU issue and all files were uploaded.

   Setup:

   SyncDoc Directory
   C:\Users\MYNAME\Google Docs
   In that directory I create link to "My Documents"

   mklink /D "c:\Users\MYNAME\Google Docs\Documents" "c:\Users\MYNAME\My Documents"

   If I create file in C:\Users\MYNAME\Google Docs, let it sync then rename or delete local, all works fine.

   Since this is link, does syncdocs not see deletes?

   Yes, it will follow the link, but Windows will not notify it of changes under the link, so Syncdocs will not see renames or deletes.

   I have same setup for Dropbox on different folder and it works. Will SyncDocs be fixed to work with links?

   I had the same problem. I set syncdocs to run as administrator and the problem went away.

   I.e. In Windows 7, right click on the program -> properties -> compatibility tab -> tick "Run this program as an administrator".

   Changing to "run as administrator" doesn't work for me. No matter what I try the files just keep coming back. This only happens in the directories when the docs are in folders that are links. Quite annoying as I was to selectively choose what should sync to Google Docs but I don't want to a) store everything under the google docs folder or b) copy things to the google docs folder (thus creating duplicate copies of the file.

    @ragtim: what OS are you running? What sort of links are these, .LNK files or links you make with mklnk?

    Dear Team,
    I am also facing one problem.
    When I selected all sync options then it was creating multiple copies on my google docs account. So I deselected the option "Upload local files to google". Sync renames and delete are selected.

    Now the issue is coming that rename and delete from google docs are not reflected to my local. New files are coming from google docs to Local but delete and renames are not working.

    I am using Windows XP.

    A cross post for varun:

    We have found the cause of this.

    If you un-select "Sync files and folders shared with me by others" and your Google username contains non-alphanumerical characters (probably a . or +) then you'll have this bug.
    Please let me know if this is the case for you?

    We'll fix it this week.

    For me: "Sync files and folders shared with me by others" is selected and my user name only contains Alphanumeric. So I hope thats not the case.

    1) Upload local files to google - UNSELECT
    2) Download google files - SELECT
    3) sync rename and deletion - SELECT
